Northside Volkswagen’s Favourite Scenic Ontario Drives
When the weather warms up, and we can replace our winter tires with summer tires, the team at Northside Volkswagen loves nothing more than a nice scenic drive. There is just something indescribable about the feeling of watching as the sun sets while the cool spring air flows through the panoramic sunroof that just can’t be beat. Luckily our province is home to some of the most beautiful and scenic drives in Canada. So read on, and find out a bit about some of the scenic Ontario drives you can take advantage of.
One of our favourite scenic Ontario drives is Highway 3, the Talbot Trail. Definitely on the longer side, but what a great way to get an idea of the scope of Lake Erie. Check out Essex County on the way and make a stop at one of the many vineyards, before stopping again at Point Pelee National Park. Not that we are using this as a chance to plug our product (wink, wink), but Volkswagens were made for long scenic drives. Not only are most models available with a panoramic sunroof, but Volkswagen’s fuel efficient, turbocharged engines are perfect for long drives without stopping at the gas station — and at a total of six and a half hours, the Talbot Trail is one of the longest trips we can think of.
If you’re in the mood for something a bit shorter, then exit the QEW and tour Niagara. Historical buildings, vineyards, and the lovely Niagara parkway are like an appetizer for the breathtaking Niagara Falls. It can be easy to overlook sites for being too touristy when you live so close, but the falls never cease to captivate.
If you feel like testing out some of your Volkswagen’s safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control on one of your scenic Ontario drives, then the trip from Parry Sound to Killarney might be perfect for you, as you’ll be spending lots of time on highway 400. But don’t let that fool you, as this trip along the Canadian shield takes you near Killarney Provincial Park which is said to have been the inspiration for the renowned artists The Group of Seven. Make a weekend of it and stay at one of the first rate campsites, and enjoy one of the park’s many hikes, ranging from a few hours to multiple days(days!).
Of course, before going on any long, scenic Ontario drives, we suggest that you book a quick service appointment for your vehicle, just to be safe. We have a full service and parts department staffed by factory trained technicians working in a state of the art facility to ensure that your Volkswagen gets the best care possible. Volkswagens are known for their reliability, but sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry. This is why the Discover Media touchscreen available in your Volkswagen is so valuable. Satellite navigation means even if you find yourself off the beaten path, you’ll be able to find your way again.
These are some of Northside Volkswagen’s favourite scenic Ontario drives, but there are many more out there. If you have any questions about Volkswagen, or have a few scenic Ontario drives you’d like to share yourself, feel free to stop by Northside Volkswagen and chat with us. We’re pretty knowledgeable about our wonderful province, but definitely experts regarding Volkswagens.
